​Why Indigo Duckling?



When my college roommate had her first baby, I had the idea to knit a sweater for him.  "The Chicken Sweater" (as it became known) was a huge hit and was one of the favorites for years.  It was passed down to brothers and the "legend" began.



I was encouraged to knit more baby sweaters, and I did knit but without any real consistency.  Years later when another friend had her first granddaughter, I had the idea to start a cottage business knitting baby sweaters.  So began Indigo Duckling...

 

Philosophy


I enjoy the creative process of designing ideas, seeing them evolve on the needles, and finishing a new project.  But Indigo Duckling isn't intended to mass produce baby sweaters...it is for people who are looking for a cute, crafted product for their own offspring or for a gift that is unusual.



In its own way, Indigo Duckling provides a "back to basics" option in a designer-focused world.  The sweaters are knitted first because I enjoy the process, but they also fulfill my desire to find unique and personal gifts for friends and relatives.  Knitting relaxes me, and so I knit!



Details 



Each style has a name that I have chosen to fit the design.  Products are sized from 3 months to 24 months...someday perhaps larger sizes will be available, but for now, the baby sizes are the focus.
